Winterbrook
Falls
January 21st 2006
The track to the falls starts at
the car park about 15 kilometres south of Leven Canyon. Allow 5 to 6
hours to walk this trail. It follows the route of a logging tramway to
the Winterbrook Falls. Along the way there are remains of bridges and
some wooden rails that still remain in the bush. Approaching the falls,
the trail offers excellent views over the surrounding country.

towards Great Western Tiers and Central Plateau.

The Winterbrook Falls walk includes some short boardwalks before the big
scramble up the valley to the base of the falls. First image below is
one of the rare King Billy Pines, this one estimated to be over 2000
years old. Also below you'll see the old logging tramways (3rd image).

Views of the escarpment near the falls, as well as the falls (minimal
flow) and finally, a superb photo opportunity near Forth on the way
home, the field contrasts in this shot were too good to miss!
