...from Aussie Storm Chaser David Simpson ~ Melbourne Australia

Melbourne Thunder Days since 1972

This information is compiled by Dane Newman of Sandringham, Victoria and are personal observations. The observations are not official.  Dane counts a thunderday as at least two distinctive rumbles of thunder between midnight one day and midnight the next. There have been a few occasions were storms going late in the evening on one day have continued on past midnight into the next day and therefore the one storm has been credited for two thunderdays. Dane does often verify information from other associates in Melbourne and does cross-check with the BOM if he needs supporting data. The information will be updated monthly, thanks go to Dane for his years of dedication and vigilance! The BOM also publishes Average Annual Thunder Days.
