Don't forget, there are
chase reports here as well!
November 13th 2004
- Yarra Valley
Under cold SW winds in the wake of a cold front, Melbourne endured
flooding, hail, thunder and squalls. Here's a few images I took from
home as a nasty little storm approached delivering squally rain, some
lightning and some small hail. Severe Thunderstorm Advices were issued
for the Melbourne Metro Area.

October 14th 2004 - Sydney
Late in the day and a southerly buster breaks through central-east
NSW. I was positioned at North Head and captured a few images of a
rapidly moving cell that headed offshore after dumping local downpours
and several lightning strikes around the Northern Beached area.

October 13th 2004 at 0600 hours
and Melbourne skies are very unstable, as seen in this image I took from
Tullamarine Airport.
October 7th 2004
A strong low pressure trough crossed
the southeast of Australia today, generating very strong winds along
with storms. Melbourne experienced a number of squall lines moving
through at great speed with quite a bit of lightning associated with
these lines, particularly during the morning. The following front
brought strong, colder westerly winds and showers to Victoria.
The State
Emergency Service received about 250 calls for assistance across
Victoria, ranging from wind damage to minor flash flooding and the worst
affected area was Shepparton. State Emergency Services controller
Richard Cosgriff says about 25 houses and several cars were damaged when
a freak storm hit a housing estate on the outskirts of the town this
afternoon. "A lot of houses, the roller doors have blown in, they've
lost a lot of tiles," he said. Homes in Geelong also sustained minor
damage and there have been power outages across Melbourne, with most of
the blackouts in the eastern suburbs.

Some nice 'chunky' cells over outer eastern Melbourne, failed to deliver
anything but most impressive visually!

September 13th 2004
Nice line of heavy showers moved through Melbourne's outer east late
afternoon with some nice chunky updrafts too good not to photograph!
Taken near Silvan Dam.

Non- Weather Images
The following images were taken on the evening of October 13th 2004.
Camera used is a Nikon 5400 used at various settings to achieve a sense
of evening movement about Sydney Harbour. It was a very warm evening,
around 9.30 p.m. and it was still over 30C. The blurred motion that I
have captured for effect are Sydney's busy ferries at McMahon's Point.
